選戰期間，中國一直是川普的攻擊箭靶，他不只批評中國搶走美國勞工的工作、從不公平貿易中獲益，是「強暴美國」，更誓言當選後要將中國列為匯率操縱國，但總統交接辦公室新聞稿公布的內容顯示，川普今晚一改競選期間的誇張語言，再度展現川普當選後截然不同的言行風格。
